DISLIKES; Being alone, his nightmares, his inability to let go of his past, and slightly afraid of small spaces - like in an air duct or in a very large crowd where you can't move.

KEYWORDS; Loyalty, Trust, Inner Conflict, Heartbreak
PERSONALITY;
David is an easy-to-like guy when he feels safe and is comfortable.. And that's nearly never, but more often than that he can also be an extremely bullheaded, angry, asshole who will not budge on the littlest of issues. Want the blue rock? Too bad, you're getting the red rock and you're going to like it. The latter occurs more frequently than the former, as being a total jerk is much easier than being a mediator and a peacemaker. Let others do the work, you do the smashing and the whamming. To friends he is a constant companion, an immovable force of support... And to enemies he is an unstoppable pain in their side, dogging constantly at their heels and making them fear for their livelihood at every turn. He's not afraid to break the law itself to get someone he has a vendetta against -- for good or ill. He also delights in arguing with others, and making others angry. He prides himself in the fact he's probably one of the most asinine people in the known world and could probably make the Pope scream curses at him if he tried hard enough. To friends he will at his best behavior and listen attentively to anything they say, to random people it one hundred percent depends on what mood he's in. He's a fickle person, always running from the terror of the past few years. Trying to get the images of the dead from his head, trying to move on from a glorified past.

PARENTS; Fiona Deraine, Heath Deraine. (Both deceased within the past two years.)
SIBLINGS; William Deraine (Deceased last year, was age 19.)
PETS; None.
IMPORTANT FIGURES; Cresting Grove High School Football Head Coach Ernest Rolle and staff. For the entirety of high school, that man was all but god for this man. He worked like hell for him, also the track coach at the time, for four long years.
HISTORY;
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his parents moved with both him and his brother to North Carolina right before 8th grade. The change of pace was appreciated, and they loved being able to inhale such clean air. Even to this day he marvels at how clean the air is compared to his hometown. He helped power his middle school to power to a city championship that year at tight end and outside linebacker -- something he always looks on fondly. Back before all the trauma, all the heartache.
When in high school, David was a four year letter winner for both football and track. He was a star defensive back on the 2008 North Carolina State Championship team -- his senior year. He was an All-State Alternate at cornerback that year, as well as coming 5th in the 800m and make it down to states for the mile and two mile to help the school get State Runner Up in track. He was a star in his own right, and his number is still coveted today. #82. He was extremely lazy and almost lackadaisical in classrooms, and passed with a C average -- but on the field and in exercise he was in his element. He worked day in and day out at what he did, and he never made any excuses.
After graduation, he signed in as a 31B military police in the US Army, and served four years. Nobody really much of what happened, outside he went to two tours of Afghanistan -- the second with his brother -- and that his brother didn't make it. In between tours he stayed true to his hometown roots and helped coach and motivate his former team as a strength and conditioning coach -- but when he came back after that second tour... His demeanor was completely different. Gone was the carefree, no holds barred David. In his stead was a somber, almost regretful nowadays. He can hide it most of the time, but when alone especially he sits back and just can't let go of what happened. What happened? Nobody really knows. It was never made public due to family request. This man has lost his entire family in the span of five years -- father to cancer, mother to a vehicle accident, and brother in war. He's jaded now, and took up a job as a local police officer to try and do some good... But even then he -- despite himself -- continues to do wrong. He lets friends and people off when he shouldn't, and pursues vendettas with an endless zeal.
He's a man who has had everything in his life ripped from him from either circumstance or force, and is understandably jaded because of it. The local police tolerate him, because he is one of the best shots they have -- and because he honestly works his tail off in what he does. No one would argue, however, that this policeman has had more than a little swept under the rug because of his history and local fame with the town. Regardless, mainly, he keeps to himself a lot of the time. Brooding, reliving old memories alone in long -- sorrowful walks throughout the city. He's a prime example of someone who had it all, and then tragically lost it in such a short span of time. And now... All he is doing... All he can do... Is try and rebuild his life, piece by agonizing piece.
