HISTORY; Allan was a down-on-his luck musician living in downtown San Francisco who was deep into drugs and alcohol when he met Claire Roberts. Claire had a bright and sunny disposition, and just being around her made Allan feel like a better person. It was pretty much love at first sight for the two of them, and Claire helped pull Allan out of the dark place he was in. Only a year and a half later, Claire gave birth to Avis. Allan proposed to Claire shortly afterwards, but Claire told him that she didn't believe in getting married if other people couldn't get married (she was a large supporter of gay marriage).
Shortly after their second child, Samuel, was born, Claire disappeared, leaving Allan to raise a newborn and a toddler. Allan did not fare well. By the time Avis was 11, he had deteriorated to how he had been before he had met Claire, only much bitterer. It was about this time that he decided that Claire was never coming back to them, and he moved the family to the opposite side of the country to Cresting Grove. Unable to take his frustrations out on Claire, he vented at the next best thing: Avis, who looked almost identical to her mother.
